Japanese politicians disregard the will of the people

Japan’s government has access to some of the world’s brightest economists. Yet over half of Japanese workers take home 3.5 million yen a year or less. Despite a weak yen and rising inflation, politicians continue to impose more taxes. Ignoring the will of the people—the true sovereigns of the nation—they keep passing laws that many citizens don’t believe are necessary. Fierce demonstrations are taking place across the country against constitutional revision and the establishment of an information bureau that restricts individual freedoms.
